Founded in early 2007 as an offshoot of another local schutzhund club, Liberty Schutzhund Club is a small group of dedicated dog enthusiasts brought together by our love of dogs, training and schutzhund.

LSC is not a dog training service, and members are responsible for training their own dogs.  The club exists to facilitate this by providing the guidance, assistance, support and environment through which members can successfully train their dogs and continue to develop their training and handling skills.  All members are expected to be actively working toward titles, and all members are expected to participate regularly in training and help out whenever possible.

Our membership runs the gamut from those who are highly experienced in schutzhund and have titled several dogs, to novices embarking on the schutzhund journey for the first time.  Some of our members are hobbyists, participating in schutzhund in a relaxed manner as a fun and rewarding activity to enjoy with their dog.  Others approach schutzhund from a more serious standpoint, utilizing it as a breed test for working ability or with aspirations of competition.   Though the majority of the dogs at LSC are German Shepherds, we are open to all breeds.

Regardless of differences in background, experience or long term goals, we are all united in our enjoyment of spending time with our dogs and club members, our dedication to promoting responsible dog ownership, training and schutzhund, and our commitment to working together to help everyone achieve success.

LSC trains on Saturdays in rural Scio Township, just west of Ann Arbor.  Additional mid-week training is available for club members.  Visitors are always welcome.  Whether you are looking for a club, a place to guest train on an occasional basis, or are new to schutzhund and wish to learn more about it, we'd be glad to have you come visit.
